Sports Activities in Oropesa del Mar
* The Columbretes Islands:
Located 24 miles off the coast of Castellón, they are made up of four groups of islands, all of volcanic origin, considered a nature reserve due to the great wealth of flora and fauna that inhabit them.
The islands occupy a surface area of 19 hectares, between Illa Grossa, La Ferrera, La Forcada and El Carallot.
This small paradise is practically virgin, as there is only one lighthouse on one of the islands. Moreover, it is a reference destination for scuba diving enthusiasts from all over the world.
If you feel like visiting them, you can do so in pre-arranged groups from the marina of Oropesa del Mar.
* Sail:
The waters of Oropesa are unique for sailing.
The sailing and windsurfing school of the Club Náutico Oropesa organises courses for all ages and levels throughout the year.
Also, if you are a cruising sailing enthusiast, there are numerous regatta days in the marina, such as the Villa de Oropesa Trophy and the San Jaime Regatta.
* Diving:
Whether you are a beginner or just starting out in this sport, the waters of the municipality are ideal for the practice of this sport. You have from sandy beaches to virgin beaches with rocky ground, or pebble beaches where you can enjoy the underwater depths. Dare to discover them.
* Sea Greenway:
This greenway, a former railway line, runs from Playa de la Concha beach (with access from Tramontana street) to the town of Benicasim, parallel to the coast. It is approximately 6 kilometres long and is ideal for walking or cycling.
It enjoys places of great environmental value, such as the beach of La Renegá, and historical sites, such as the Iberian settlement of Oropesa la Vieja or the watchtowers of La Colomera or La Corda.
